- I've seen some old forum threads on this but it appears BitDefender is interfering with my file explorer. I go to open it, but it just doesn't open - I have to open task manager to restart windows explorer what seems to be every 5 minutes.
- Now I have searched my PC for any instance of BitDefender and cannot find any. I do not remember downloading or installing any such program. I am running Norton Internet Security for Antivirus.
- Press the Windows Key and the R key together on your keyboard. Type appwiz.cpl in the command box that appears and press Enter.
Hello again Scott!
It successfully removed the old av then reboots. Gets to 75% of the installation and then says 'setup was unable to install some of the drivers on your system' I have verified there is no other AV. I used the Bitdefender uninstall tool to make sure there is no other instances still installed. Logged on as different admins. I downloaded the Bitdefender Total Security 2013 installation kit from your email, 64-bit link, which appears in my Downloads. It didn't give me the option to save it, as you suggested. When I open it and click on 'Continue' - I get the message that Bitdefender cannot uninstall MSE automatically, and that I must do it manually.
The error you mention is usually indicative of driver remnants from a previous Bitdefender installation, or perhaps even from another AV solution (you can use sc delete driver_name from cmd as admin, then reboot). The first step we recommend is to run the Endpoint Security Uninstall Tool while in Safe Mode. Once the tool completes and you reboot, try the installation once more.
If the install still fails with the same error, please generate a Support Tool log and submit it to our Support Team for review, using our online Contact Customer Care form. Be sure to include details such as the exact error message received, and be sure to mention that you already tried booting into Safe Mode and running the Uninstall Tool.
The Support Tool can be downloaded from the Help & Support section of the Bitdefender Control Center console, or from the following links:
