You need a 64-bit printer driver for macOS Catalina Catalina is the first macOS to exclusively use 64-bit apps. Apple’s latest software upgrade improves the performance of your Mac by losing its 32-bit architecture. App developers used this architecture before 64-bit technology superseded it, delivering faster performance with more memory. Rescued my Canon P-215 from the junk heap. Kept postponing updating my MacBook Air to High Sierra just to keep the Canon driver working. For some reason the driver and proprietary software stopped working today anyway. Thanks to VueScan, I get to use my scanner despite the fact that there's no longer support from Canon.
Did you contact Canon and receive an explanation for the Catalina designated software not working? Your plan B, would be to kick Canon to the curb, and use the paid, non-subscription, 64-bit VueScan which supports the DR-C125 scanner without any Canon software or drivers installed. Then you have vendor independence, and less Canon hassle.
I have used VueScan Professional since 2010 with a long abandoned Canon scanner — without paying for any VueScan update for current software. I am not compensated by the vendor for mentioning VueScan here.
